About this service
Hamburg's driving licence authority. If you hold a licence from outside the EU/EEA, you must convert it within six months (185 days) of entering Germany. Book an appointment through the LBV booking portal (category Führerschein, "Umschreibung ausländischer Führerschein"). The fee was €37.50 to €74.40 in 2026, depending on the class; the new licence takes about three to four weeks.
