About this service
AIMA's Portuguese language unit coordinates Português Língua de Acolhimento (PLA) courses for migrants aged 16 or over, run by public schools, IEFP training centres and Qualifica centres. Most courses are free and certify levels A1+A2 or B1+B2; A2 or higher counts for permanent residence and nationality. Ask lingua.portuguesa@aima.gov.pt for the nearest courses. AIMA also runs an online Portuguese platform.
