Schulämter (district school offices) – school places for newcomers

Each district school office (Schulamt) allocates places at public schools. If you move to Berlin with a school-age child, look for a suitable school, contact it, and register your child with the school office of your district; the Senate's page for families moving to Berlin lists the school offices and school supervisory authorities. You need to be registered in Berlin first. Bring your child's school reports from the last two school years and any certificates.
