About this service
Department S of the LEA is Berlin's central naturalisation and citizenship authority. It took over all naturalisation cases from the district offices on 1 January 2024. Apply online through the Service-Portal Berlin, which includes a quick eligibility check. Visits are by appointment only; hand in documents only when asked, and expect contact mostly by email. Cases are not processed strictly by waiting time: completeness and up-to-date documents matter. Fees apply.
