About this service
Issues the social security number (NISS), collects contributions and pays benefits such as child benefit, and manages applications for free creche places. Most services are online in Segurança Social Direta; the NISS for foreign citizens can be requested with an online form. Desks are available in Lisbon Citizen Shops.
