Campo de Ourique
A compact grid neighbourhood west of the centre, dense and residential, with Rua Ferreira Borges, the Jardim da Parada and Casa Fernando Pessoa. Served by trams 28E and 25E; no Metro yet, but a Red line extension is planned. 22,140 residents in 2021.

Overview
The parish of Campo de Ourique was created by Law 56/2012 and takes its name from the bairro of Campo de Ourique, a planned grid of streets bounded by Rua Ferreira Borges, Rua Tomás da Anunciação, Rua de Campo de Ourique and Rua Saraiva de Carvalho. The parish also covers the former parishes of Santa Isabel and Santo Condestável. It had 22,140 residents in the 2021 census (INE).
The parish council notes that Campo de Ourique has 5% of the city's buildings and 4% of its homes and residents on 2% of its territory, about twice the city's average density.
Character
- Street grid. The neighbourhood was laid out on a regular grid; Rua Ferreira Borges, tree-lined like an avenue, is one of its best-known streets.
- History. The parish council recalls that the 5 October 1910 revolution that founded the Republic began here, and that its cafés hosted literary and political gatherings. Fernando Pessoa lived at Rua Coelho da Rocha 16, now the cultural centre Casa Fernando Pessoa.
- Population. In 2021, 14.3% of residents were under 15 (Lisbon: 13.0%), 24.5% were 65 or older and 11.3% were foreign nationals (Lisbon: 10.1%).

Housing

For families
Children under 15 made up 14.3% of residents in 2021, above the city average. The Jardim Teófilo Braga, known as the Jardim da Parada, with the statue of Maria da Fonte, is the neighbourhood's central garden. Public school places are allocated by area of residence.
Evenings and nightlife
Quiet evenings
A residential neighbourhood; the parish council's history highlights cafés and local life rather than nightlife.
Worth knowing before you move
Honest trade-offs newcomers mention. They are not reasons to avoid a place.
- No Metro station yet; commuting relies on trams and buses unless you walk to a station elsewhere.
- Above-average share of children and twice the city's average building density (parish council).
