About this service
The school authority's central information and advice centre. It advises families on Hamburg's schools, places newly arrived children who need to learn German in preparatory classes (Basisklassen and international preparatory classes, IVK), and handles the recognition of foreign school certificates. Advice is by appointment only; call during the phone hours (Tuesday 14-16, Wednesday and Thursday 10-12) or write to the email addresses on its contact page.
