About this service
The youth office of your home district issues the daycare voucher (Kita-Gutschein) needed for a place at a Kita or with a childminder. Apply no earlier than nine months and ideally at least two months before the start date; online applications go through the Service-Portal, and a dedicated Kita-Gutschein portal was expected from around September 2026. From their first birthday, children are entitled to up to seven hours of care a day. Care is free in 2026; parents pay a €23 monthly meal contribution.
