District
Döbling (19th district)
A green district in the north of Vienna, rising from the Danube to the Kahlenberg, with vineyards and Heuriger wine taverns in Grinzing, Nussdorf and Sievering, some of the city's most expensive residential areas and also the Karl-Marx-Hof.

Overview
Döbling lies in the north of Vienna on the slopes of the Vienna Woods, bounded by the Danube and the Danube Canal to the east. It had 75,400 residents on 1 January 2024 on 24.9 km², a density of 3,023 people per km², well below the city average, and grew by 8.9% between 2014 and 2024.
It grew out of former villages such as Grinzing, Heiligenstadt, Nussdorf (Nußdorf), Sievering, Oberdöbling, Unterdöbling and the Kahlenbergerdorf. The Kahlenberg and Leopoldsberg are its best-known hills.

Worth knowing before you move
Honest trade-offs newcomers mention. They are not reasons to avoid a place.
- Hillside areas are green but further from the U-Bahn; check bus and tram connections.
- Compare the affluent hillside areas with the parts near Heiligenstadt and the Danube Canal before you decide; they differ in price and character.
- An older population on average than in central districts.
